Most Mothers who have experienced this type of birth will tell you that the water helped to soothe the "pains" of labor and that their babies seemed to "flow right out of them".
As a "Mermaid", many mothers are choosing to birth while in the water. As an advocate for Mothers and a waterbirther myself, I support Underwater Birth as a safe and gentle way to birth.Get Started

There are so many benefits of water birth! Birthing in water facilitates mobility and enables the mother to assume comfortable positions for labor and birth. It speeds up labor, provides significant pain relief, promotes relaxation, it gives mother a private protected space, reduces perineal trauma and eliminates episiotomies, is a gentle way to welcome baby!Learn more
The place in which you choose to birth is so important. Mermaid Birth was exactly what I needed for my second home birth. The midwives were supportive and helpful and really made the recovery processes so much better. Can't thank them enough!
I have always said that the 25th would be Caitilyn’s birth day because I have had my last 2 babies 2 days after their due dates and my brother also planned his wedding for this day. So no surprise when I start having slightly more regular and intense contractions on Saturday the morning of the 25th. I let my Midwife know. She is happy to hear it and tells me that it sounds like I am probably in early labor and that it may be all day before things really pick up. My Mom and husband, Kevin are anxious to get this labor really started. So they encourage me to squat during contractions and walk between them. Things aren’t really moving along very quickly.
